Description
  • [Frederick Swaffield, one of a large family, came from Bridport to live at the New Inn, Stoke Abbott, in 1895, aged 7. He worked for many years as a carter for Mr Edward Smith, at Lower Farm. He lived at Glen Cottage, but moved to Portland in 1924. He returned to Stoke Abbott for a few years before he died, in Dorchester Hospital, in 1963. He probably wrote down these memories before 1924].
